Cain And Abel
Genesis 4:3-8 And in the end of days, it happened, Cain brought to Jehovah an offering of the fruit of the ground. And Abel also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat of it. And Jehovah had respect to Abel and to his offering, but He did not have respect to Cain and to his offering. And Cain glowed with anger, and his face fell. And Jehovah said to Cain, Why have you angrily glowed? And why did your face fall? If you do well, shall you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin crouches at the door; and its desire is for you, and you shall rule over it. And Cain talked with his brother Abel. And it happened when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel and killed him.
Do you know what it is to lose a child? How about if you lost that child to murder? Even worse, what if your child was murdered by another of your own children? I can’t even imagine.
That is what happened to Eve. Her precious son was murdered, a pain that I am sure is almost unbearable, then to have had that murder committed by another of her own precious children. Cain killed Abel – brother killing brother. We can only wonder how much Eve suffered at the loss of her son. But really she lost both of them because God sent Cain away.
I am sure there are many of you, who like me, have a child in heaven, waiting with Jesus to welcome us home. Won’t that be a grand day!
Father, we ask You to bless all mothers and fathers who have lost children. May we be comforted with the hope of seeing them again when You call us home. In Jesus’ name. Amen
