Martha - Anxious, Rushed and Distracted.

Luke 10:38-42 And as they went, it happened that He entered into a certain village. And a certain woman named Martha received Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus' feet and heard His word. But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she came to Him and said, Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me. And Jesus answered and said to her, Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things. But one thing is needful, and Mary has chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Martha was worried about getting everything just right for their company, Jesus. She was running around like a ‘chicken with it’s head cut off’ but, probably not getting very much accomplished. She was very stressed and not at all happy that her sister was not helping her.

Mary on the other hand was at peace, sitting at the feet of Jesus, listening to His teachings. She was drinking from the Living Waters of Christ.

Today everything is rush-rush-rush and then hurry up cause you’re late. Our lives are like Martha’s, we are anxious and troubled because we just have too much to do and not enough time to do it.

Should we, like Mary, slow down and sit at the feet of our savior to read His Word and drink from His Living Waters? I say YES! So let’s get it together and do the needful thing like Jesus said that Mary did and choose “the good part”.

Father, Thank You for the beautiful example of Mary which teaches us the way we should live. We need to study Your word and talk with You daily through prayer. Thank You for Your Bible, Your love and guidance. In Jesus’ name. Amen
