Moses Made A Serpent

Numbers 21:7-9 And the people came to Moses and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against Jehovah and against you. Pray to Jehovah that He take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people. And Jehovah said to Moses, Make a fiery serpent and set it on a pole. And it shall be when everyone that is bitten, when he looks upon it, he shall live. And Moses made a serpent of bronze, and put it upon a pole. And it happened that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked upon the serpent of brass, he lived.

Remember this story in Numbers about how Moses made the bronze serpent, put it on a pole so all who looked at it were saved? This is about the Israelites who were rescued by God from the Pharaoh in Egypt. But it is also foretelling the Cross of Jesus: they lifted Jesus up on the cross and all who look to Jesus for their salvation > believing He is the Son of God > He was crucified for their sins > He was raised from the dead on the third day > asking Him into their hearts as Lord and Savior > shall be saved.

Jesus said in John 3:14 But even as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Everything was known to God before the creation of this earth. He shows us all through the Old Testament about Jesus and His kingdom that is to come. We just need to continue studying God’s Word.

Father, we come to You with thanksgiving in our souls for Your precious gift of salvation through Your Son Jesus Christ. We ask that You help us to learn all of the things You have to teach us in Your Word. In Jesus’ name. Amen
