Painting Landscapes

Job 35:5 Look to the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds; they are higher than you.

I really enjoy painting, especially landscapes. There is so much beauty around us that you don’t have to look hard to find a subject. The beauty of the mountains, a peaceful lake, a sunset, the ocean… the list goes on and on. But you know that one of the most beautiful and most difficult things in landscape painting is? It is the sky, especially the clouds, no matter how hard I try – I can’t get the clouds right. Only God can paint the clouds and the sky.

I know that God gave me the talent to do a little painting and I thank Him for it, as with all of His many Blessings to me. But it started me to thinking about how God gives us these talents to use for His service and to His glory and honor. I am really not sure how to do this with my painting yet, but I will figure it out with God’s help. Anyway...

Has God given you a talent that you (like me) are not using to the fullest extent that He intended. Do you even realize all of the different talents He has given you? I am still discovering things that I just did not realize that I could do it until God showed me through others. I bet if you think about it a while, you will realize more of your talents too.

Father, Thank You so much for the talents which You have so freely given us. We humbly ask You to show us how to use them to Your glory and honor, Your will be done. In Jesus’ name. Amen
