Peter And His Denial

Mark 14:66-72 And as Peter was below in the palace, one of the servant women of the high priest came. And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked on him and said, And you also were with Jesus the Nazarene.
But he denied, saying, I do not know nor even understand what you are saying. And he went out into the forecourt. And a cock crowed. And a servant woman saw him again and began to say to those who stood by, This one is of them. And he denied it again. And a little after, those who stood by said again to Peter, Surely you are one of them, for you are a Galilean, and your speech agrees. But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I do not know this man of whom you speak. And the second time a cock crowed. And Peter remembered the word that Jesus said to him, Before a cock crows twice, you will deny Me three times. And thinking on it, he wept.

I am sure that Peter felt lower then a “snakes belly in a wagon rut” when he heard that cock crow the second time. But what about us, do we deny our Lord? We may say “no” but let’s think about it. When we look the other way, listen to & tell unclean jokes, watch questionable movies and don't speak up for what is right, are we not denying Jesus?

We all need to be bold in our actions and not let there be any question as to where our loyalty lies. You know the saying ‘actions speak louder then words’ – well let’s show ‘um! Let’s let Jesus shine brightly through us in everything we do and say.

Father, please forgive us for denying Jesus as our Lord with our actions. We ask for the strength and perseverance to boldly go where we have not been before and shine for You in a new way! In Jesus’ name. Amen
