Procrastination
Procrastinate - to put off until a later time.
Proverbs 13:12 Hope put off makes the heart sick, but desire fulfilled is a tree of life.
Do you ever procrastinate? It robs you of peace of mind. You can’t have peace if there is something hanging over your head that you have yet to do. I have to admit that I am a huge procrastinator, it is not something that I am at all proud of but - it is just part of my personality (I’m working on it).
I think the saddest procrastination of all is to put off accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Many people say, “I believe in Jesus but I am just not ready to ask Him into my heart, I have too much living left to do first.” or “I can’t be good now, I like to party and get down.” or “I will do it when I am older - but not now.” and even “I have to make enough money first so we won’t have to worry about anything but living right.”
You want to tell them that we are not promised tomorrow, but they are just not willing to listen. The devil has them fooled into thinking they just need to worry about making money, living it up and pursuing all of their dreams. Then he says they can do the “God thing” when they are older. But as the Bible says in Luke 12:20 But God said to him, Fool! This night your soul shall be required of you, then whose shall be those things which you have prepared?
Like I said, we are not promised tomorrow!
Father, please forgive our procrastination in all things and Father help us to wittiness to those who are putting off their salvation. May we follow the lead of the early Christians and let Your will be done in our lives. In Jesus’ name. Amen
