The Whole Armor of God

Ephesians 6:11-12 Put on the whole armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world's rulers, of the darkness of this age, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

We do need the whole armor of God when we go up against evil. The devil is smart, he does not make evil appear ugly and dark – no – he makes it beautiful and enticing. If we are not completely on guard and ready, we can be fooled just like anyone else.

The armor of God which we are to take up is truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, the word of God, the Holy Spirit, and to pray without ceasing. We are in a war against evil - not humans. Evil takes the form of beauty, prestige, success or enjoyment, by human standards...

Here is just one example, have you seen any TV commercials about alcohol where the people were not all beautiful, giving the appearance of having a great time and with absolutely no problems? They don’t show drunks staggering around, abusing others or running over innocent people with their cars. They don’t show the sickness, throwing up or the hang-overs or even the possibility of addiction. Everything is beautiful and exciting.

So always keep your guard up and have on your whole armor because the devil wants to distract us from witnessing for Jesus. He knows that he has lost our souls, but above all he does not want us to lead anymore souls to Christ. So let's get our armor on and beat that old devil.

Father, we ask you to go with us as we put on Your armor to fight against evil and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to all of the world. Thank You Father for all of Your many blessings. In Jesus’ name. Amen
