Wind Blows As The Sea RollsMark 4:39-41 And He (Jesus) awakened and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, Peace! Be still! And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And He said to them, Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith? And they feared exceedingly and said to one another, What kind of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him? Have you ever been out in a boat when a storm is brewing with the wind blowing, lightening flashing and the thunder roaring? I can tell you from personal experience that it is very scary. My daddy and I had gone fishing but we were not having much luck. This specific day had promised to be great weather wise, but the weather man was wrong. A huge storm came up suddenly, the wind was blowing and the water was very choppy. The boat was rocking and I was really scared. Daddy told me to get down under the stern while he got us back to the dock. I did not want to leave him out there alone in the storm so, I hung onto his leg (which I am sure made it harder to drive the boat). We were drenched but he got us back safely. I am sure that the fact that Jesus calmed the wind and sea with just a word did scare the disciples even more then the storm did. I mean, think about it – here was this awesome man who could tell the wind to stop and the sea to calm. Who had ever heard of such a thing? I think that they were beginning to see who Jesus really was.
Father, forgive us, as with the disciples, for our fear and our lack of faith. Thank You for always being there to calm the seas of life for us. You are an Awesome God for sure! In Jesus’ name. Amen
